The process of developing four individual panels was a trial and error process. It began with the use of both piano hinges and collapsable folding shelves. Issues arose with this method so a wooden spacer was placed along the piano hinge to align the fulcrum point with that of the shelf hinge. This method also had problems with allowing the pieces to fold flat. Therefore a another approach was taken; the piano hinges were removed and a small version of the larger folding shelf brackets were put in their place.
