ARP - Under Construction
The process of developing four individual panels was a trial and error process. It began with the use of both piano hinges and collapsable folding shelves. Issues arose with this method so a wooden spacer was placed along the piano hinge to align the fulcrum point with that of the shelf hinge. This method also had problems with allowing the pieces to fold flat. Therefore a another approach was taken; the piano hinges were removed and a small version of the larger folding shelf brackets were put in their place.

ARP - Beginning Form
ARP - Display Ideas
After researching the needs of the museum I began to come up with different ways that a single wall system could be manipulated. Below are some of the designs.

This is a system comprised of many different panels that can be manipulated into a flat surface or have a texture when not in use.

This idea was based on a flat wall that had the ability to either display objects on one side or create two planes for hung pieces.

Lastly is a idea for a wall unit that can be closed to form a single wall or opened for displaying items on the interior or exterior walls. When closed it was intended to function as storage in the interior.
ARP - Investigation Findings
Greenhill Gallery:
- Founded 1974
- Rotates contemporary art – interactive art gallery
- Artist led symposia, lectures, artist talks, artist led workshops, films, dance, readings, signings, concerts, and gallery tours
Display issues:
- Storage
- Not sound proof. Walls are taken to make separate rooms, by blocking off space
Suggestions:
- Have the ability to hang items on the side
- Height, so that large pieces do not hang off
- Avoid the creation of hard shadows through lighting
- Placing multiple walls together can create large wall spaces
Weatherspoon Art Museum
Suggestions:
- Have ability to hang on sides
- Adequate height to hang large items
- Be able to put multiple walls together to create desired width
Issues:
- Storage
- If walls are used to create seprate rooms, they do not soundproof the enclosed room
